Washington D.C. –
You may have received an email recently suggesting there will be a new 3.8 % sales tax on real estate next year due to the passage of national health insurance legislation. These emails may not be completely accurate so here is what is really going on.
On January 31, 2013 there will be a new 3.8% capital gains tax placed on income earners making over $250,000 a year. This tax will be used to partially fund the new healthcare program. It will not apply to sales of your primary residence but it will impact income from stock sales, dividends and capital gains from investment real estate.

Tucson Water has been working on revisions to the current water for annexation policy. This is a complicated but important issue for our community. If you have vacant land outside of Tucson city limits, you may not have access to Tucson water. We will keep you informed as this issue moves to public hearing before the Mayor and Council.
