Sign Code
In these tough economic times, creatively marketing your business has become more
important now than in years past. Agents are holding more open houses, and in turn are
displaying more signage in the various jurisdictions. We want to make sure you understand
the different sign code laws so you aren’t put in a precarious position down the
line.
The City of Tucson does allow portable signage (open house) on personal private property.
The fee to the broker is $50.00 annually. The City of Tucson does NOT allow signage in
the right of ways.
Pima County does allow portable signage (open house) on personal private property. The
fee to the broker is $270.00. Pima County does NOT allow signage in the right of ways.
Marana does allow portable signage (open house) of personal private property. The fee to
the broker is $10.00 per sign with a $5.00 renewal fee every 6 months. Marana does NOT
allow signage in the right of ways.
Sahuarita does allow portable signage (open house) on personal private property.
Currently there is neither a fee structure setup nor a permit requirement. Sahuarita does
NOT allow signage in the right of ways.
Town of Oro Valley does allow portable signage (open house) on personal private property.
There is No fee for signage on private property. Town of Oro Valley does allow portable
signage (open house) in the right of ways. The fee to the broker is currently $1000.00
annually, $12 for a 3 day permit, or $370 for a 120 day permit for right of way signage.
The right of way signage fees are currently being discussed with the Town of Oro Valley
and Sign Code Committee. The Tucson Association of REALTORSŪ is actively engaged in the
issue and is lobbying to create a policy that would work for both large and small
brokerages.
Special Anti-Deficiency Update
The House of Representatives passed SB 1004, the anti-deficiency fix, early this afternoon
with a vote of 53-0. SB 1004 included the repeal and replacement of ARS§ 33-814
essentially returning the statute to its original status prior to the passage of SB 1271.
With this fix, Arizona will continue to operate as a deed of trust state with the
protections that have been in existence since 1971.
SB 1004 did pass both the Arizona State Senate and House of Representatives with an emergency
clause, and it will go into effect upon Governor Brewer's signature. We will continue to work
with the Arizona Bankers Association on language to address "speculative builders" in the
upcoming session in order to resolve this issue entirely. |
