REALTORS® of Arizona Political Action Committee Endorsements Casting your vote in the upcoming General election on November 4 is critical in order to protect our industry and ensure the quality of life that makes Arizona a wonderful place to live. To help you make your choice among candidates who are seeking office we have put together this voters guide. City of Tucson News
Real Estate Transfer Tax A 1% real estate transfer tax is still being talked about by members of the city council. As it stands now the city council will here the recommendation from the Families and Housing sub committee on November 25th. We want to urge everyone to contact your City Council representative and express opposition to this tax. It is important to stay on top of this issue and not let them forget how much we oppose real estate transfer taxes in Tucson. And it is important to vote YES!! on Prop 100 this Tuesday!
Demolition Code Lawsuit
On Monday the 27th Arguments were heard in Button vs. The City of Tucson. The Lawyer for Eric Button made a good argument why the demolition code passed by the City of Tucson should be thrown out. We should have a ruling in the next week or two on this issue.
Oro Valley
Strategic Plan Study Session On Wednesday, October 29, the Oro Valley Town Council discuss their strategic plan based on their discussions at their retreat a couple months ago. The main component of the plan includes a focus on four focus areas that provide the framework for the strategic plan; financial & economic sustainability, quality of life, community infrastructure, and leadership and communication. “Financial & Economic sustainability is defined as the Town’s ability to ensure stable, long-term resources to fund existing and future service levels. Quality of Life means to sustain a rich cultural, artistic, safe and recreationally-oriented environments that continue to contribute to the area’s desirability. Community Infrastructure means additional services and facilities are necessary to meet community expectations wherein new parks and open space, roadways, water facilities, town buildings and other infrastructure needs are required to strengthen the economic viability. Leadership is the ability to communicate a vision well, which in turn motivates people, transforming great ideas into action.” In the appendix, it is mentioned that a part of Oro Valley’s future is to not function as a “bedroom community” but to have all necessary amenities that allow people to live, work and play in Oro Valley.
