City of Tucson News
Public Safety First Initiative
The Public Safety First Campaign is going great!!! So far we have over 200 volunteers passing petitions and have already collect 10,000 signatures. We need a minimum of 9,600 to qualify for the ballot but we will collect at least 14,000 to insure we have plenty of extras. Thank you to everyone who is participating with the campaign or has signed the initiative! Also if you see a volunteer passing petitions while you are out around town say “hi” and “thank you” because they are more than likely a Police Officer or Fire Fighter.
Rental Tax – The City 2% Rental Tax
The Tucson City Council met yesterday for an emergency study session on the budget. There are still a lot of issues with the Tucson City Budget including a proposed increase to the utility tax from 2% to 4% but the good news is that in the latest version the proposed rental tax has been taken off the table.
