      Oro Valley News

On February 3rd, the Tucson Association of REALTORS® Candidate and Ballot Measure Task Force met to consider three races that are occurring in the Town of Oro Valley. After 6 hours of interviews and deliberation the bipartisan committee made up of REALTOR® volunteers came to unanimous decisions in all races.

    • In the race for Mayor of Oro Valley the Tucson Association of REALTORS® has endorsed Dr. Satish Hiremath.
    • In the race for Town Council there are three open seats. The Tucson Association of REALTORS® has endorsed Mark Finchem, Joe Hornat and Mary Snider. Both Mary and Mark are active members of our Association.
    • The last item that the Association considered was Question 1 on the ballot which is the alternate spending limit better known as “Home Rule”. The REALTORS® are encouraging everyone to vote “YES” on Question 1 which will allow Oro Valley to retain the tax revenue that they currently collect instead of returning it to the State.

If you are looking for more information on these candidates or want to get involved or contribute to their campaigns, please contact them:

   City of Tucson News

Budget The City of Tucson has balanced their budget for 2009-2010 but their New Year starts in July and they are again looking at a huge deficit. In order to balance their budget next year City Manager Mike Letcher has proposed a series of “revenue enhancements” that would generate more income for the City of Tucson. Some of the ideas proposed by the City include a new tax on all advertising and an occupational privilege tax on businesses and their employees. For a complete list please click on the links below.
