A subcommittee has been formed to address the MLS map and boundaries. As the county continues to grow and more subdivisions are added, it has become necessary to look at the area boundaries and implement a system that not only works today, but will be valid as we continue to grow. If you have inputs on this issue, please forward them to John Mijac- john@mijac.info or Brian Case- brian@tucsonrealtors.org We will update on the progress of the subcommittee when appropriate.

Participate in the Heart Walk, May 3
Heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #3 killers across the nation. Walk with us on Saturday, May 3 and help us raise money and awareness about this critical cause. The American Heart Association currently has over 1.7 million dollars in active research grants at the University of Arizona. Sadly over 1 million in life saving research went unfunded in 2006. Physical inactivity is a leading risk factor for Heart Disease and Stroke. Lace up your shoes...bring the family, and JOIN US! If you would like to walk with the Tucson Association of REALTORS® team, please contact Laura Kruszewski at 382-8775.

REALTOR® Only MLS Coming Soon
As part of our continuing effort to improve the quality and integrity of our MLS, the Multiple Listing Service Board of Directors has voted that effective July 1st 2008, MLS members must be REALTORS®. This ensures that everyone in the Tucson MLS is held accountable to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and may be subject to arbitration and due process as outlined by the National Association of REALTORS®.
This means that brokers, agents, and appraisers who are currently ‘MLS Only’ members with no REALTOR® association affiliation will need to join a local REALTOR® association. This DOES NOT mean that appraisers have to become licensed real estate agents. It only means that they need to join a REALTOR® association.

Data Syndication Has Begun!
We have enabled the feed of MLS active listings to Cyberhomes which means that Tucson listings will get more exposure via the World Wide Web! It is important to note that Cyberhomes uses postal information to verify addresses with listings, so if the address is not complete or incorrect in MLS, the listing will not show on the website. We have already seen cases where there was no zip code or no house number on the listing, and it didn’t display. We will continue to add 3rd party websites as they sign our agreements. Stay tuned for updates!

New Forms Approved
The Association Board of Directors approved a Listing Contract Checklist and Sale Contract Checklist.  The Checklists are forms created by the TAR Forms Committee to assist Brokers/Office Managers in file management.  These forms are for internal company use only and are not intended to replace a checklist you may already be using.

Risk Tip Of the Week: RADON-The Invisible Risk
Odorless, colorless, tasteless – completely invisible, radon gas can be very harmful even at very low concentrations when exposures (dose) are extended for significant amounts of time.  Therefore, the presence of radon gas in a residence can potentially be hazardous to the occupants.  Many factors affect the presence and concentration of radon gas in a home – or any structure for that matter, and there are also many variables that affect dose to the residents.Click Here to Read the Full Article! This risk reduction tip provided by TAR is a general statement intended to raise important issues relevant to risk reduction. This tip is not intended to be legal advice. It should not be a substitute for advice of professional counsel or the assistance provided by an agent's Designated Broker. Check out the Risk Tip Library!
