Transfer Tax in AZ?
The
state of Arizona is considering ways to create revenue,
with a possibility of adding a transfer tax. A group
led by the Arizona Association of REALTORS® is proposing
a constitutional amendment that would prevent any level
of government in Arizona from imposing such a transfer
tax. The No New Home Tax campaign needs to gather the
signatures of 230,047 Arizona voters to put the measure
on the Nov. 4 ballot. Homes and real estate already pay
property taxes. The group wants to ensure that another
level of taxation is not added. Visit
www.rallinow.com for updates on this issue.

City of Tucson Sign
Enforcement Efforts
Beginning the end of
February, the City of Tucson will resume concerted
corridor sweeps of the City's major arterials to remove
any signs not meeting the City sign code. The
City of Tucson code prohibits any signs to be placed on
the public right-of-way. The code also is very
restrictive regarding signs on private property.

Economic Stimulus Package Update
President
Bush has signed the Economic Stimulus package into law.
The government will be sending payments to most American
households and grant tax incentives for business
investment. The legislation includes the requested GSE
and FHA limit increases strongly backed and lobbied by
NAR. The increased GSE loan limits means borrowers will
see immediate relief with new liquidity in the mortgage
market and the nation will see an additional 300,000
home sales. The increased FHA loan limits means an
additional 138,000 Americans will purchase homes, and
with the needed FHA reforms means 200,000 families can
refinance their homes safely and affordably.
