Forecast Seminar-Recap
& Presentations
The
Tucson Association of REALTORS® held their 2008 Forecast
Seminar on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. The seminar had
several members of the media in attendance. The business
section of the Arizona Daily Star featured an article
titled "REALTORS®:
Housing Market Stabilized," that shed some positive
light on the Tucson housing market.

This committee is very active in informing members about

Congrats To Volunteer of the Year, Lyra Done! Congratulations to Lyra Done
(of Lyra Done Realty)
who received the Volunteer of the Year award for the Town of Oro Valley! Lyra has spent countless hours volunteering in
many areas in the Town of Oro Valley including the board of adjustment, the Naranja Town Site
committee, parks and recreation committee and the Town
of Oro Valley's 25th anniversary celebration. Lyra has
long been involved at TAR and is now a Director on
the TAR Board of Directors. Congratulations Lyra!

RISK TIP of the Week: Debt Relief
The
Scenario: President Bush signed into law HR 3648 – Public Law
110-142 on December 20, 2007. This is the MORTGAGE DEBT
CANCELLATION RELIEF ACT. A brief summary of this bill:
Generally, individuals who are relieved of their obligations
to pay some portion of a mortgage debt on a principal
residence between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2009 will
not be required to pay income tax on any amount that is
forgiven.

Beautify Tucson!
The
Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau is
joining forces with Pima Association of Governments,
Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, Inc. and
Southern Arizona Leadership on a simple but critical
opportunity to make a positive first impression for Tucson guests and winter visitors. PAG, in partnership
with TREO and SALC, are coordinating a clean-up campaign
to address these areas—starting with a kickoff event,
“Showcasing our Beauty,” on Friday, January 25, just
prior to the gem shows and the PGA Tour. This clean-up
will take place from 9-am to 11am along Tucson Boulevard,
north of Tucson International Airport. If you
would like to participate in the clean up, please
